A home built on trust and shaped by time – House Pieterse is the result of a longstanding collaboration between architect and family, culminating in a space that is both deeply personal and architecturally striking.

Set on a uniquely challenging site, the design embraces its surroundings, maximising sweeping views of the mountains and landscape. To elevate this experience, the main living areas were placed on the first floor, capturing an enhanced perspective while maintaining privacy. Natural light filters in from above, dissolving shadows and infusing the interiors with warmth.
Layered materials add depth and texture, celebrating human scale and creating a rich visual experience. The result is a home that doesn’t just frame the landscape—it becomes part of it, an expression of the Pieterse family’s lifestyle and vision.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Chris Hattingh since 2013 when he was part of the team who designed my Beach house in Boknes…and what an amazing journey!!
Chris has great organizational skills, a strong work ethic and an eye for detail. As a project manager he maintains a high quality of work through clear communication with all team members. He is a passionate architect which shows in his designs.
While spending some time with him I can truly say that he has a good nature, is self-motivated and dedicated to excellent performance whenever he commits to a task. It is for these reasons that my husband and I did not even consider any other architect when we decided to build our dream house in Pearl Valley. Although we knew that for logistic reasons it would have been much easier to make use of a local architect, there was no doubt in our minds that we wanted to work with Chris.
I feel confident calling on Chris for support, knowing that he will always protect my interests and I always feel inspired by his creativity and feel that not only does he meet the program and budget, but creates a sense of place and belonging.
